Community guidelines
Cometday works because people trust the board and each other. These rules keep it that way.
Last updated October 11, 2026
What can launch
Cometday is for software that people use or pay for: SaaS, web apps, mobile and desktop apps, browser extensions and APIs. Every product is reviewed before it goes live, and it passes when all four of these are true:
- It works. The site loads, you can get in and the product does what it says.
- It is clear. A visitor understands what it does and who it is for within seconds.
- It is finished. A real product with a real site: no placeholders, templates, broken pages or bare waitlists.
- It is worth it. It solves a real problem well enough that people would use it regularly or pay for it.
Products that do not pass get the reasons, and can be fixed and sent in again.
Also required
- You must be a maker of the product or be authorized by its team to launch it.
- Submit each product once. Update its page instead of submitting it again.
What cannot launch
- Open-source repos, libraries and code projects; demos, toys and experiments; games; hardware; articles and research.
- Spam, link farms, affiliate pages, thin wrappers presented as something they are not.
- Anything illegal, deceptive, or designed to harvest data or credentials.
- Gambling, adult content, weapons, and financial schemes promising returns.
- Products that infringe someone else's trademark or copyright.
Voting
- One person, one account, one vote. Vote for what you would actually use or recommend.
- No buying, selling or trading votes, no vote rings, no throwaway accounts.
- Asking people to check out your product is fine. Asking them to upvote without trying it is not.
Votes that break these rules are voided. Products that rely on them can be removed, and accounts can be suspended.
Comments
- Be specific and constructive. Critical feedback is welcome; contempt is not.
- No harassment, hate, personal attacks or doxxing.
- No self-promotion in other people's discussions.
- Makers: reply honestly, including about limitations. Do not post as someone else.
Products we add ourselves
Our editors also add good new products launched elsewhere, after the same review. Makers can claim those pages, and anyone can ask for a page to be removed.
Advertising
Sponsored placements follow these guidelines too. They are always labeled and never change the ranking.
Reporting
Every product, comment and profile has a report option. Moderators review reports and act on them. If something is urgent, contact us directly.
Enforcement
Depending on severity we hide content, void votes, remove launches or suspend accounts. Decisions can be appealed by contacting us.
